FAQ

How did it start?
The tennis club twinning was originally started by a member of the club who had gone to Bad Ems with the Town Twinning, where he met a member of the Arzbach club, the rest is history!!

When does it happen?
The twinning weekend usually takes place in August and has done so for about the past 8 years. Each year both sides converse to mutually decide on an appropriate date.

How often does it happen?
There is just one twinning weekend per year, so we take it in turns to visit each other!!

What’s involved throughout the weekend?
Each year there is a tennis tournament between the two clubs which usually takes place on the Sunday, there is an activity normally planned for the Monday. The rest of the weekend varies from year to year, but always involves social gatherings and enjoying a few local beers.

How many people are involved?
At present we have about 30 people from Droitwich Tennis Club that are regularly involved each year, unfortunately we don’t currently have any youngsters involved and this is something we wish to change.

What is the age range of the people involved?
All of the Droitwich members are adults ranging from the mid 20’s upwards, however, the Germans have a strong following of both youngsters and adults.

How do you get there?
There are two choices you can either drive or fly, over recent years flying has become more popular because it is relatively cheap and Arzbach is only about 1 hour from Frankfurt Airport. It takes about 5 hours to drive from Calais to Arzbach.

Who will I/We stay with?
We will do our best to partner you with someone/a family of a similar age and lifestyle. You will then hopefully be able to develop a long and wonderful friendship together over the years to come!
